The Day The Birds Stopped Singing - An Eerily Peaceful Morning
Have you ever just sat and listened to the silence? I started doing this a few months ago. It wasn't easy putting my phone down, not scrolling through social media and such, but itโs almost addicting.
The silence at the park this morning was strange, though.
After some quick errands...
It was the perfect excuse to get coffee.
Then again, I never have to think too hard to find an excuse for coffee.
With coffee acquired...
I head to Flagstaff Hill in Krape Park. I love sitting under the trees, listening to and watching my surroundings while enjoying my coffee.
Other than a random car driving by, it's so quiet and peaceful. I can even hear the gentle wind blowing through the trees.
I watch a solo squirrel play Ring-Around-The-Rosie on a tree trunk.
On the other side of my view, the playground is completely empty. It dawned on me that school started last week.
Soon, a man and woman walk by. I see them here often. They wave and say "Hello!" as they continue walking.
Out of nowhere, a bird chirps somewhere in the treetops.
But it was only a chirp... and that's the strange part!!
Normally the birds are tweeting and singing everywhere - especially the cardinals.
Today, there are no cardinals and no steady songs... just a rare random tweet.
The temperature has cooled these past couple of days...
I wonder if it's too cold and the birdies don't feel like singing.
Or, are they quiet because danger lurks nearby?!?
My thoughts could take this in any direction.
I don't feel fear... so I'm not going to entertain the thought of danger.
Back at the campground...
It's eerily quiet here, too.
Maybe it's just an extraordinarily peaceful day... I may as well enjoy it!
I hope you're having a peaceful Monday, too ๐
